Hey there! I’d really value any insights from someone with experience. This week’s issue hasn’t popped up even though my rig runs at a capped frame rate. I’m currently doing real-time graphics work and often push the system to its limits. When I run 3D apps at full speed, I notice massive spikes—stable 170 FPS drops to just 15 for a few seconds, roughly every eight seconds. GPU-Z says everything looks normal, but PerfCap triggered by VRel Vop or insufficient voltage. I’ve checked several threads that seem similar but haven’t been fixed: links like the ones on Tom’s Hardware and TechPowerUp. I’ve also tried swapping the GPU, upgraded my power supply to 850W gold, updated BIOS/windows/drivers, changed the PCIe version to Gen 3, and even undervolting the GPU. My specs include an MSI Ventus3x RTX 3080, 10GB Ryzen 9 5900X, 32GB DDR4, and a B550 M.2 SSD. I’m considering downgrading to a weaker GPU or tweaking other components if there’s a bottleneck. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Check the CPU performance by reviewing its clock speeds. Look for any throttling or overheating indicators. The B550MH may be running slower due to lack of proper cooling.
It caught my attention with a strong red warning—it seems the RAM is stuck at 94 degrees. I believe it shouldn’t exceed 50% idle or drop to 84-86% under load, which could indicate throttling. Have you considered replacing the RAM?
It's also a flat board and not moving much, which means the card isn't reacting to that. The load drops quickly, indicating the GPU isn't being used.
It seems like the setup isn't quite right. Avoid mixing a 5900x with a low-end board and VRMs designed for up to 5700x. Get a decent B550 model, such as the B550 MORUS or B550 AORUS Pro P, preferably under $120 with good VRM options.
I just verified the CPU performance and it's showing a significant drop. I'm not very familiar with motherboard types, but that makes sense. Also, it seems the recommended RAM temperature is normal. Thanks for all the help!

Thanks for the feedback, everyone! We figured it out—it was the motherboard. With an ASUS TUF B550M Plus, I’m finally back to doing graphics tests. The new one is much better for managing cables and adding extra components to the PCIe slots. For those watching, if you’re installing a super powerful GPU, make sure to invest in a good motherboard. Lesson learned!
