Unless your system is running a very intensive application, laptops are set up to operate using the built-in GPU until a dedicated one is required. In gaming or rendering tasks you’ll notice the dedicated GPU is being utilized. For regular everyday use, the integrated GPU will typically be active. To switch to using only the dedicated GPU, you can turn off the integrated GPU in Device Manager.

In gaming or rendering tasks you’ll notice the dedicated GPU is being utilized. For regular everyday use, the integrated GPU will typically be active. To switch to using only the dedicated GPU, you can turn off the integrated GPU in Device Manager.

Did you verify the correct GPU option in Kombustor before launching the stress test? I typically use Kombustor regularly, but with laptops you must choose the dedicated GPU from the dropdown menu to avoid overloading the built-in processor.

You don't need to use a full-screen capture anymore; it's not from 2002. With Windows 7 and newer, we have the snip tool. Most mid-to-low tier GPUs are wired, so all data travels via the iGPU regardless of settings. You can also try using the Windows Settings app to assign GPU tasks for specific programs, though this may not work in every case. For better accuracy, monitor actual usage with GPUZ instead of Task Manager—on my laptop, it proved more reliable at showing which GPU was handling the workload.
