It varies. If your ISP provides just one WAN IP address, it won't assign it; it'll use the first cable you connect and the second won't receive a link. If they offer several IP addresses (rare today), it should function properly.

This might not matter much? WAN1 and WAN2 will receive unique LAN IP addresses. My usual IP should stay online on the internet, right? Or is that the difference when using bridge mode?

I don't think so. Using the Arris in bridged mode lets your AX88U grab your Public IP from one of the two WAN ports. Without a separate Public IP from your ISP, the second WAN port lacks an address to operate on, so Load Balancing won't function. It might work if you keep NAT enabled on the Arris, but then Port Forwarding becomes nearly irrelevant. Plus, many services dislike Double NAT.
