I checked my modem settings and noticed an option labeled "(modem only - modem + router)." I wanted to compare the pros of each choice and explored whether enabling the modem lights would help. For your Netgear D7000, keeping the lights on might provide useful status updates, while turning them off could save power but hide any alerts.

It appears you have a modem and a router integrated together. While most contemporary modems include a built-in router, switching to a separate router isn’t necessary unless you specifically need additional ports or features. Whether this change makes a difference depends on your needs.

Hi there! Just starting out on the site, no worries about posting twice. I tried changing the title but wasn’t sure how to remove a post. Let me know if you need help with that!
