Model B450 or B550
I'm considering an upgrade and need help choosing the right motherboard. I'm planning to use an AMD Ryzen 3600 and have several options to compare. The prices and performance of these boards are what I'm evaluating.
The B550s offer reasonable value with space for future upgrades. You’ll likely find cheaper B550 boards if you search carefully.
the strix f is a subpart; if you can afford b550, definitely consider it. for b550, the aorus pro, strix f, tomahawk, mortar, a pro, vdh (essentially a b450 tomahawk with the newer chipset) are all solid choices. for b450, tomahawk, mortar max/max, a pro max (non m), pro 4, pro vdh max are all reasonable options. the tuf offers slightly better vrm, but the a pro has some nice features—it will more than suffice if you can afford it.
B550 TuF stands out for its superior VRM performance and BIOS features.
I believe the Gigabyte B550 could be a cost-effective option here...
No, second generation Ryzen processors are not compatible with the B550 socket.
