I recently added MOCA 2.5 to my home’s existing coaxial cables. I’m checking if a 100 Mbps reduction is normal. Right now, I’m on Spectrum’s 300 Mbps plan and only see about 198 Mbps through MoCA to my PS5. My upload speed is solid at 10 Mbps, usually reaching 11 Mbps, though. The only time I hit 300+ Mbps was the first day after installing the adapters.

My setup looks like this: Street Coax → MoCA Filter → Three-way splitter → room with modem, fire stick, and PS5. At the modem, coax enters from the wall into a two-way MoCA splitter—one goes to the splitter, another to the MoCA filter, then to the modem. The remaining coax heads into the MoCA adapter. Cat 5e Ethernet runs from the modem to the router, and then out to the MoCA network adapter. I have three ScreenBeam MoCA adapters (models ECB6250K02 and ECB6250S02). The MoCA splitter is a Dutch-compliant three-way device, and both filters are PPC SNLP-1GCW PoE coax filters. Attached photos show the speeds from the first day to today.

Based on my observations, the PS speed test tends to be very unreliable. For more accurate results, try using Speedtest.net on a regular computer.

It’s best to test the connection directly using tools like iperf. The PS5 will show the speed it can reach, but this may be affected by your internet provider or network conditions.
