I'm planning to purchase the R9 5900X next week and wanted to know what motherboard would be best. I was considering 4 x 8GB DDR4 RAM, which I already have on my 2070SUPER. I want something that can handle future upgrades and plenty of USB 3.0 ports since I use VR and a keyboard with two USBs, plus Ethernet is sufficient.

It's better to use 2x16 rather than 4x8. The memory controller works smoother with this setup. For the motherboard, consider ASUS TUF B550 or X570, ASUS STRIX B550 or X570, or MSI Tomahawk B550 or X570.

I ended up getting an x570 with two 16GB C18 chips at 3600Mhz RAM.
