Since production halts, prices rise. Motherboards become pricier during transit, and distributors prefer bulk orders from major suppliers. When fresh sockets and compatible chips arrive, distributors are less inclined to stock large quantities of older models, as demand would be minimal.

A brand-new 9900K is roughly $550 plus or minus $50, an AORUS Z390 master is nearly gone, or premium motherboards from other makers are available. Does this suggest they produced more CPUs than boards, or does motherboard manufacturing generally finish sooner than CPU production?

In reality, it's likely there are even more 9900Ks than the premium motherboards, since models like Aorus Master, Taichi, Carbon, etc., are niche products that don't sell as well as the cheaper options. Many users combined a 9900K with a mid or lower-tier board. You'll find it easier to locate a UD, Phantom Gaming 4, or Mortor, not because they're the top matches for the 9900K, but simply because more combinations exist.

I recently verified availability in the UK and found exactly two Z390 models listed on Amazon, both offering good value. A well-known UK retailer had none in stock.
