B550's chipset provides 3.0 lanes but the lanes that are connected to the cpu are gen 4. x570's chipset provides 4.0 lanes and the lanes that are connected to the cpu is gen 4 assuming you're using a zen 2 chip (which you are). for the most part, at least for now, gen 4 is kind of useless, unless ampere benefits from it but we still do not know.

Remember that even using B550, your 3700X will provide sufficient PCIe 4.0 lanes for both your graphics card and an NVMe SSD. @Elijahpro3

Yes, on certain b550 boards, the PCIe lane arrangement supports multiple NVMe drives or PCIe slots running Gen 4, such as the Aorus Master that employs PCIe switchers.
