Mobo fails to identify SATA M.2 device
Hello everyone, I recently swapped my MSI B450 Tomahawk Max for a Gigabyte B550 Aorus Pro to get some extra features. I now have two M.2 drives: an A Corsair 500GB MP600 PCIe 4.0 in the top slot and a Samsung 860 Evo 2TB SATA M.2 in the bottom slot. The issue is that the 2TB drive isn’t being recognized. I’ve moved the MP600 to the bottom slot to test, and it works there with the NVMe drive, but not with the SATA one. Should I configure the M.2 to use the SATA protocol in BIOS? I don’t see an option for that, though maybe I’m misunderstanding. Also, I just removed the working 2TB drive from another motherboard and don’t think it’s damaged. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
The second M.2 port supports PCIe 3.0 or lower only (M2B_SB) and lacks SATA compatibility. The device you purchased is incorrect.

Find an affordable adapter board on eBay. Look for options that match your PCIe slot needs. Some listings route M.2 connectors to SATA, allowing you to use standard cables. Other choices include adapters that convert M.2 to 2.5" SATA or direct M.2 to SATA formats.
Thanks for your feedback, but I think it's better to purchase another PCIe 3.0 NVMe SSD and swap the 860 Evo. I don't want a clunky adapter in my setup. I should have done more research initially, and replacing the motherboard isn't a good idea since I've already created a water loop around it.
