MKV to Mp4
MKV to Mp4
VLC works on Android. Uncertain with IP phones or BlackBerry devices.
It might be the codec issue, but you can embed it into an MP4 file in seconds and test playback. Just install Avidemux, open your video, pick MP4 from the menu, save it. The video will be placed inside the MP4 container without reencoding or quality loss. Note that subtitles won't work because MP4 doesn't support them.
Excellent timing! I'm currently online to tackle this query. Since our 2004 P4 with HyperThreading era, I've been gathering and organizing media conversion tools—both free and paid. I can confidently say there are hundreds, if not thousands, of suites that look a bit different but generally cost between $20 and $60. Of course, they do work. But I usually don't suggest them because I don’t support a specific file format from that old media-sharing era.
My preferred options span from free open-source software to more advanced professional tools like DVDFab. If you want to try converting a file, I’d recommend downloading MediaInfo and sharing what it reports about the file you’re working with. This can help identify issues like large file sizes or high bitrates that might be causing problems even with VLC.
For MKV files, especially when subtitles are involved, containers like MP4 or AVI don’t support subtitles natively. If you decide to proceed, DVDFab Video Converter is a solid choice—it’s user-friendly, supports QuickSync and CUDA, and works well with Intel and AMD hardware. The free version is available, though it’s not cheap if you’re buying the full package.
@.spider mentioned that containers such as MP4 and AVI lack native subtitle support. If you’re determined to convert, DVDFab remains a reliable option. I’m here to assist with any questions you have!
It's Level 5.0 and High10, you need to re-encode using Handbrake
