I'm looking for a premium stylus or active pen suitable for use on my Dell XPS 12 9q23. I understand it's an older machine, but I want to try using the Dell Premium Active Pen PN579X if it works with your touchscreen. The spec sheet mentions a Bluetooth 4.2 connection is necessary, yet my laptop only has Bluetooth 4.0. According to the manual, the Bluetooth module is located in a half mini card slot. I need a compatible mini card—specifically one supporting both Bluetooth 4.2 and 802.11ac WiFi—to ensure it functions properly with the touchscreen. I’m unsure where to purchase such a card since I’m not familiar with mini or half mini card types, especially not the specific model you described. I’ve checked Intel’s website for a compatible option, but it lists M.2 2230 and 1216 chips, not a half mini card. If this isn’t what I need, I’d prefer something with Bluetooth 5, which would be more modern and versatile.

Consider visiting Dell's website to verify available card options. This is important because many laptop manufacturers include specific cards in their BIOS, and missing them can prevent booting. It also serves as a useful starting point for selecting a suitable card. I followed this approach when upgrading my sister's HP laptop from wireless N to Wireless AC. Additionally, Dell produces USB Bluetooth adapters; I purchased one for $6.99 for my headset. You might want to explore that option if you're okay using a USB port.

Thanks for the suggestion! If you can't locate a card, using a USB adapter is a good alternative. You might prefer a design that doesn’t protrude from the laptop while you work.
