It was my initial experience with a modular power supply. What surprised me was the lack of markings on the PCIe cable and CPU—both look identical. The only clue came from how they were connected (4+4 or 6+2). Can you tell me how to distinguish these cables? Also, regarding your motherboard: it has 16 pins on the board, while the CPU cable has 8 on one side and 2+8 on another. Should I connect it to the motherboard, just leave one in place, or use two cables from the PSU?

The cables need to have a label on both ends, as seen on my RM850 model.

Link the 2+8 side to the PSU at the location labeled 'CPU'. Attach one of the 8-pin cables (you'll need two) to the motherboard, then proceed without actually rinsing. Repeat the process.

It seems like you've double-checked the details, but there are no visible signs or markings. I analyzed the pins closely, though I'm still unsure about connecting them to the PSU and motherboard.

One of the cables remains unconnected:? When linking one end to the power supply and another to the motherboard, there are two connections, leaving one end unused.

Yes, it resembles a PCIe cable.

The CPU cable must have a single power connector on each side. The motherboard side needs eight pins, which means it should be an 8-pin connector, while the PSU side is different—make sure you’ve verified your manual for installation details. These guides often provide step-by-step instructions.

I have the correct cable setup, though I ended up swapping the sides because the end with two cables acts as an extension. To make it longer, I likely flipped them—two going to the PSU and one to the CPU.

It was simply an extension, right? And you're asking if it's done now?
