Minor adjustment but still no resolution at present.
What I've accomplished so far:
* Updated the update from 24H2 to 25H2.
* Added Realtek HD audio drivers (took a long time to download). Restarted after setup.
From BIOS:
* Onboard Devices Configuration -> Onboard HD Audio is Enabled.
* AMD CBS -> NBIO Common Options -> Audio Configuration -> NB Azalia. Changed from Auto to Enabled.
* AMD CBS -> NBIO Common Options -> Audio Configuration -> Audio IOs is currently set to Auto. With multiple selections.
Spoiler:
Audio IOs selection
I’m unsure which option to choose or what each does.
(I’m not an audiophile.)
Not sure if I should be exploring the Audio IOs settings.
Next step is to remove all Realtek components in my system. Restart. Check if the default drivers show Stereo Mix or not. If not, I’ll reinstall Realtek.
Edit: From my second build, Astral as well, there’s no Stereo Mix either.

So I completely removed Realtek from my system. After uninstalling, the uninstaller asked for a reboot which I did. Once back in the desktop, there was no audio at all, and no Stereo Mix either. I then reinstalled Realtek USB Audio (v6.4.0.2395), the most recent drivers available on the MoBo support page. The installer again asked for a reboot, which I did. After that, the audio returned (I tested playing a local *.mp3 file), but still no Stereo Mix. To be thorough, I also installed the Realtek HD Audio Driver (v.6.0.1.8186), which I downloaded yesterday and took some time to download properly. The installer prompted another reboot, which I did. Now the audio works correctly, although a Stereo Mix is still missing. So, what’s going on? Are the powerful ALC4082 models actually supporting Stereo Mix? Maybe it’s considered too basic and should be left out? In a similar case, premium MoBos often skip adding VGA/DVI or PS/2 ports but stick to USB and DP/HDMI only.

PowerShell can be quite challenging and sometimes discouraging.
But once you reach a point where you can execute a single Get cmdlet with administrative privileges, you unlock a vast amount of system details that are valuable for troubleshooting.
The specific Get cmdlets that are particularly helpful often require some experimentation.
I usually type them directly for straightforward queries, but I also rely on copying and pasting for more complex commands or scripts.
Many tutorial samples allow readers to try this themselves, which is very useful and reduces the chance of mistakes.
Regarding PowerShell specifically, my strategy is to explore related audio-related cmdlets first. This helps me understand the language better and sometimes uncovers new perspectives on any issue I face.
Occasionally, I encounter AI-generated code or scripts—be cautious about using these.
Luckily, for most troubleshooting tasks, such scripts aren’t essential. One-liner commands often suffice.

PowerShell is way above my paygrade + then some. Unless there is some specific command you can tell me to run in it, i have 0 clue on what else to do with it.
In similar sense to Terminal, where specific commands (e.g sfc /scannow) are used. Without knowing the command, i have 0 idea what to do in Terminal either.
Searched from Google and found this about ALC4082;
From that, i gather that while ALC4082 codec does support Stereo Mix, the built-in sound card in my MoBo may not support Stereo Mix?
Almost all my playback and recording devices are USB, except my 2.1 speakers that use the 3.5mm jack and plugs into rear I/O line-out port.
No adapters, extensions, hubs etc are used what-so-ever. All devices are direct connect to the rear I/O of my MoBo. Unless passthrough port is considered as extension.
Spoiler:
Screen of rear I/O connections
Few clarification words;
My KB has 2x USB cables since it also has USB type-A passthrough port. My mice is connected directly to my KB USB port.
My ST100 headset stand has 2x USB type-A ports. My headset (Void Pro Elite) is connected to one of those USB ports.
Internet connectivity is solely via Ethernet cable. While i did install the Wi-fi & Bluetooth antennae as well, i have both, Wi-fi and Bluethooth turned off.
And HWinfo64 summary as well:
Based on the link you shared, i looked my speakers 3.5mm jack and it is TRS.
I also have small 2.0 speakers that are solely powered by 3.5mm TS jack, but more of that below.
...sigh...
Situation has gone from bad to worse.
Now, starting today, my 2.1 speakers doesn't work at all. They do power on, but no audio from them.
Hardware wise, nothing changed since yesterday.
Software wise, Win update from 24H2 -> 25H2 and nuking all Realtek drivers + installing them back. Also, from BIOS, Enabling NB Azalia (was on Auto).
When i have my 2.1 speakers connected to MoBo, Windows detects them as USB Speakers. But when i set them as Default playback device and try to play some audio;
* internet radio (di.fm) says unable to connect
* youtube plays but no audio
* VLC player crashes on launch
I uninstalled VLC player and reinstalled it when speakers were connected to system. Even with fresh install, VLC player crashes on launch and will not work.
When i unplugged 2.1 speakers from MoBo and then try to launch VLC player, it launches and works without issues.
With speakers connected to MoBo;
Device Manager doesn't show that any of the devices would have an error and wouldn't work fine.
Event Viewer doesn't show any relevant errors either. Only error there, is: "ID1801 - Secure Boot CA/Keys need to be updated". But what little i found from the net, it is informative event, which some reason is flagged as Error and is caused due to having 25H2.
Not sure if Win update screwed it up or not.
🤔
Since on my 2nd build, Astral, there are also 2.1 speakers (MicroLab FC360). On Astral build, i also updated Win yesterday. But there i don't have the Realtek HD Audio Drivers installed, only latest Realtek USB Audio Drivers. 2.1 speakers work fine there. Audio plays and all is in order. Also, Astral build has the very same version of VLC player installed and player launches without issues even when speakers are connected to the PC.
As far as my Aurora build goes, i now have to start doing hardware troubleshoot.
I'll post my this reply as intermediate update, while i'll post another update reply after hardware troubleshoot.
Further troubleshoot includes;
* From BIOS, set NB Azalia back to Auto.
* Need to test if my old 2.0 speakers even work (i have 2nd device with female 3.5mm audio port where to test it out).
* Need to test if my 2.1 speakers work behind 2nd device (maybe my AverMedia speakers died once and for all. Speakers were bought Q4 '17 and are 8 years old now.).
* If 2.0 speakers work, need to test if they work from MoBo rear I/O port.
* For good measure, need to test 2.0 speakers from PC case front I/O port.
* If 2.1 speakers work, need to test them from PC case front I/O port, since rear I/O port has some issues.
* I also have 3.5mm TRS jack earbuds that i can test with, just in case the 2.0 speakers with TS jack doesn't work anymore.
Once i get some 3.5mm speakers working again with the system and we can continue troubleshooting missing Stereo Mix (if it still doesn't show up), i'm also planning to contact AsRock directly and ask them about the Stereo Mix. Since after all, they made the MoBo and should be able to help me out.

I powered off the PC and performed a cold boot to access the BIOS (this was necessary because of a d0 debug code issue that occurs when running HWinfo64 and rebooting).
Further instructions:
* Return NB Azalia to Auto mode from BIOS.
* Tested 3.5mm TRS jack earbuds behind the second device (my old Nokia 108) – they functioned properly. Even FM radio worked without a SIM card inserted, which is much better than any smartphone.
* Used 2.0 speakers with a TS jack behind my Nokia phone; they operated fine. However, they were much quieter than the earbuds.
* Tested 2.1 speakers with a TRS jack behind my Nokia phone and my AverMedia speakers still worked well – even the subwoofer.
* Evaluated earbuds connected via front I/O port; they appeared as "Headphones Realtek USB Audio" in Sound-Output devices, set as default playback.
This behavior matched what I experienced with the 2.1 speakers when connected to a rear I/O port. VLC crashed, di.fm reported no connection, and YT played but produced no sound.
* Tested 2.0 speakers with TS jack and front I/O port; they also displayed "Headphones Realtek USB Audio" in Sound-Output devices.
Same outcome as with earbuds – no audio output whatsoever.
* For verification, tried earbuds connected via back I/O port; the issue persisted – zero sound and identical behavior.
Additional testing revealed: when using my Void Pro USB headset as the default playback device, everything functioned correctly. However, switching to earbuds caused problems:
* Playing audio with VLC and changing the default playback device resulted in a complete crash.
* Listening to YouTube after switching devices stopped the video; I could replay it but still heard no sound, even as seconds passed.
* Watching di.fm after a device switch led to audio stopping, prompting "connecting" cycles through songs and ending with "unable to connect, playback stopped."
* Using Winamp (no judgment here) after switching devices produced an error:
DirectSound output v2.42 (d) error – Error creating DirectSound buffer. Error code: 88780096.
Currently, my PC has lost all analog audio options (3.5mm jack), leaving only digital (USB) audio functional.
Additionally, I don’t have any devices that support optical SPDIF for testing.
What should I do next? I might need to replace the Realtek drives again and reinstall them.
Edit: Running commands in Terminal (PowerShell) showed:
- SFC /scannow – No integrity issues.
- DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth – No corruption found.
- DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth – No corruption detected.

I searched for a result and found an app that should handle routing audio through Voicemeeter. It seems unclear why this is needed. I mainly want to play audio normally, but sometimes I need to record audio from the ear or mic. The deeper explanation points to Realtek ALC4082 switching to USB while the Alc 1220 remains PCI-E. We can only discuss it in passing. Realtek's customers are now mostly OEMs, so support is limited. Windoze hasn't really advanced audio features much, and it seems users who care about this usually find alternatives elsewhere.

I am planning to return to TRS/TRRS setup.
For stereo functionality: the pinouts, connections for the speakers (Left, Right, Sub-woofer, etc.) must match what TRRS requires.
FYI:
https://smallusefultips.com/can-i-plug-trs-into-trrs/
If TRS connections are available, it might cancel any code or settings needed for stereo use, especially when different audio signals go to left and right speakers.
It was noted that certain speaker and earphone setups worked—were they actually true stereo?
There are apps and tools you can try to verify stereo support.
I will consult the audiophile community to see which method works best for testing your system and speakers.
= = = =
Also: do you notice any grayed or greyed-out audio options related to stereo speakers or configurations?
That would imply stereo isn’t being supported in some way.

The software seems quite useful. I’m planning to try it out if I can somehow capture system audio directly—similar to how Stereo Mix works—or if I can redirect sound from speakers or headphones straight into my recording software.

Please review my troubleshooting again; currently, none of the speakers or earbuds connect properly with my PC. However, they function fine on my phone.

My 2.1 speakers have a dedicated AMP and the connections are simple.
Spoiler:
Back side of my AMP
For connecting to any output device (PC, phone), I have a 3.5mm TRS jack on one end. On the other end, there’s a white plug and a red plug that connect behind my AMP Audio In, L (white) and R (red) sockets.
From the AMP, three additional cables are available. Speaker Out L (white) goes to my left front speaker, R (red) to my right front speaker, and SW (black) to my subwoofer.
Audio In Aux and Mic out ports aren’t used at all and stay empty or disconnected.
Direct link if the image doesn’t load:
https://www.computerdiy.com.tw/wp-conten...455-46.jpg
Only the slider I see in Sound settings is to enable Mono audio, but it’s currently off.
I’ll be replacing Realtek drivers again, as I need my 3.5mm jack back online.

Initially, I had no 2.1 speakers connected to my PC except USB devices. I reverted Realtek drivers once more, reinstalled them, and rebooted after restarting. After that, when I connected the headset in the desktop mode, it appeared in the sound settings and played audio normally. I also tried VLC player, internet radio (di.fm), and Winamp without any problems. To confirm it wasn’t a coincidence, I rebooted again. Once back in desktop, testing the headset and speakers confirmed everything worked smoothly. I can switch playback devices during playback without interruptions.

Spoiler:
No Realtek drivers ever appeared in the system, yet the 2.1 speakers functioned perfectly.
Unfortunately, the Stereo Mix option remains unavailable under the Recording tab.
By now, I won’t reinstall Realtek since it severely impacted my 3.5mm jack functionality. It’s possible Realtek will behave differently later if installed again.

As the saying goes: “If it ain't broke, don't fix it.”
Although I can't use Stereo Mix for direct recording, I can use Audacity as an alternative. I’ll also explore VoiceMeeter Banana to see if it can help route system audio directly to my recording software, acting as a temporary solution.
