Minimal stuttering on a high-end PC
Minimal stuttering on a high-end PC
Hello, I've explored all possible solutions but still can't figure out the next steps. In most games, I experience minor stuttering even with a high FPS of 200+, though it's not very frequent. I've completed most benchmarks from 3DMark and my performance remains within expectations for my configuration. I haven't performed any overclocking (I mostly stick to the default settings and didn't modify BIOS). The temperatures aren't ideal (I made an error with the case, after everything I realized it's not suitable for AIO), but even then, CPU and GPU temps stay below 80 during games. I've observed significant fluctuations in temperatures—ranging from 40 to 65-70 degrees within seconds, followed by fans increasing and returning to 45-50, and so on. My setup includes: Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX Z790-F GAMING WIFI; CPU: i9-13900K Raptor Lake, 3.0GHz base, 5.8GHz turbo, 36MB; Cooler: Corsair H150i ELITE LCD XT RGB Black; GPU: ASUS GeForce RTX®4090 ROG STRIX OC, 24GB GDDR6X, 384-bit RAM; Corsair VENGEANCE RGB 64GB (4x16GB) DDR5 5600MT/s CL36; SSD: Samsung 980 PRO Gen.4 2TB NVMe M.2; Power Supply: ASUS TUF Gaming 1000W, 80 PLUS Gold Case; Fans: Corsair iCUE LINK QX120 RGB.
Hmm, that seems unusual... I noticed only problems with this specific i7 6900K running in GD, even though it has top-tier specs. It might not be a hardware issue, could be something with the OS. Try switching to another operating system to see if it resolves the problem.
Currently using Windows 11, I think checking some settings might help. I'm unsure which other operating system to try for gaming. Could this issue stem from the display cable (I have a DP cable connected to the GPU)? I'm reaching out because the FPS counter keeps showing high FPS, but I'm not sure if the stutter is brief enough to affect updates. Also, with the Nvidia Overlay active, could that be contributing? Thanks for your help!
This machine is brand new, so I verified everything is connected properly (it's not my initial setup, though it's the first time this issue shows up). My system has a fresh Windows 11 install—only Steam, Epic Games, Nvidia Experience, iCue and a few games are installed. All drivers are current (Windows and Nvidia). The issue appears across all the games I've played: Alan Wake 2 (rarely, I've seen a restart help), Lords of the Fallen (every 1 to 2 minutes), PUBG (testing if it's due to previous game demands or not), and City Skylines. I plan to record a video showing the problem—there’s a brief frame block lasting a few milliseconds to one second, which is easy to spot. I’m unsure which tool to use for testing low FPS, but even with the block, the FPS stays above 80-90.
Have you resolved the stuttering problem? I’m experiencing issues in Fortnite and COD, but only on the Urzikstan map. It’s possible there’s a specific cause there. I’ve checked all game settings and tried various fixes, but nothing helped. Other games like The Finals or Overwatch 2 run smoothly. My system specs are 7800X3D, 7900XTX, 32GB RAM.
