Minimal Server Setup
Hi George, I understand you're having trouble locating an ITX motherboard compatible with the LGA1151 socket. You're considering options for the Intel 6600K or 7600K processors, but so far only a few have come up. It seems like you might be checking the wrong parts of the marketplaces. I’d be happy to help you narrow it down or suggest alternative sources. Let me know!
Do you already have the 6600k or 7600k? If not, it would be better to check out a more recent socket since you can find affordable boards and CPUs that outperform a 7600k for less than $150 for both board and CPU. As for the boards, the only choice available here is the standard one.
For good value, I suggest an ITX CPU paired with a budget ITX motherboard under £250. A mid-range processor like an Intel Core i3 or AMD Ryzen 3 should work well, and a decent stock or low-end motherboard from brands like MSI, ASUS, or Gigabyte would be ideal.
This system is designed for performance and speed, matching or exceeding current options. The PCPartPicker list includes components like the Intel Pentium Gold G6405 processor and an ASRock motherboard, totaling around $180. This setup aims to deliver robust computing power suitable for demanding tasks.
Your budget is around 200 dollars or less. You can find a used Dell or HP tower with a full setup for that price.
I realize I don’t have much room for another setup, and it might feel excessive or too complicated. However, I own a Phanteks P500A that supports dual systems. Besides the dual power supply from Phanteks priced around £200, I was hoping to explore this dual system option. It would be an interesting project for me, offering a fresh challenge. Of course, it seems like spending a lot on something that won’t be very useful might not be ideal, but I’m sure I’ll discover other ways to use it. Outside of the PSU, I’d like to spend up to £250 and get something with decent power without being overly heavy.
