Hardware details: Graphics card RTX 3070 8GB gaming optimized (rev 2.0), CPU AMD 5 Ryzen 3600, RAM Corsair Vengeance 16GB 3000MHz, Motherboard MSI B550-A-PRO, Power supply Corsair RM750W. I've noticed minimal GPU and CPU activity across different titles—Hell Let Loose, Squad, Tarkov. Usage fluctuates but stays low. In Hell Let Loose I see 20-40% GPU usage, CPU around same range. At 1080p Ultra settings, I achieve 50 FPS in Hell Let Loose, 90 FPS in Squad, and 70-80 FPS in Tarkov. Various troubleshooting steps tried: adjusted Nvidia Panel 3D settings (high performance mode), changed several parameters to high, ran DDU, updated drivers, reinstalled BIOS, reset RAM to dual channel, disabled Xbox Game Bar, gaming mode, fast boot, and set BIOS to Ryzen High Performance. I recently upgraded to a 3070 about a week ago after previously using an 1050ti. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Your CPU is hitting its limit. The performance issues you're seeing are typical at 3600 MHz. You might attempt to boost your CPU and RAM speeds, but the best solution is an upgrade. If that doesn't work, I'd recommend holding off until Intel releases the 12th generation chips, which should arrive in about a month.
It's frustrating getting just the CPU recently. Maybe I'll hold off another year or two to see if I can get more value from my 3600.
specs: GPU is GTX 1080 Ti, CPU is AMD Ryzen 3600X, RAM is Corsair Vengeance 32GB at 3200MHz. I experience minimal usage while playing games with both CPU and GPU. I’m unsure if upgrading the CPU, GPU, or both will help achieve stable 240fps in games like Valorant.
