I frequently see a faint static buzz when interacting with browsers or video games. In demanding GPU or CPU tasks the sound becomes louder and more bothersome. When the game is paused or I stop moving the mouse, the noise disappears or diminishes. It seems like a typical Windows audio setting, but it’s set to default. I’ve tried turning off audio input/output, using DDU, reinstalling drivers, adjusting GPU and headphone settings, but nothing resolves it. I’m getting frustrated. It appears others can detect the static when using the headset boom mic, though I’m unsure if that’s connected. Your hardware specs: GPU Sapphire Nitro Plus 6800 XT, CPU R7 3700X, motherboard ASUS Prime B550M-A, headset Sennheiser GSP 601.

Integrated audio chips can handle this. It seems to be caused by insufficient shielding, which might be fixed by purchasing a dedicated sound card.

Typically the built-in sound cards aren't the top choice, though it shouldn't be too bad. Have you experimented with 3.5mm jacks or another headset? Are the connectors and sockets in good condition? Switch the audio to stereo? Consider updating the Realtek drivers? And... are you using a grounded power source?

I had this issue with a USB sound card which I thought should be immune to EMI. Anyway, I eventually discovered that using a USB 3.0 extension resulted in absolutely 0 interference noise. In comparing USB 2.0 to 3.0, it seems there is an additional GND_DRAIN on the USB 3.0, and because it's backwards compatible, you can still use it on 2.0 stuff. Give it a shot, saved my sanity and performs better than insanely priced shielded USB 2.0 cables. (talking over $100)
