Miniature cracked black cylinder? ASUS Z170 Pro gaming motherboard
Miniature cracked black cylinder? ASUS Z170 Pro gaming motherboard
I experienced a mishap where I dropped something onto the side panel of my computer. The panel split in half, and now it isn’t sending any signals. Inside the case, I found a small black plastic cylinder with two holes at the bottom. One pin connecting to it seems bent slightly. What is this part? And how challenging would it be to repair it? I’m thinking of taking it to a nearby repair shop this Monday if fixing it at home isn’t possible. The image shows the black cylinder above "REV. 1.02".
You can simply attach a fresh capacitor or reuse the existing one, not sure what the details are.
It's a capacitor. You might be able to attach a replacement yourself, though it could be challenging. Repairs usually fit well at local shops.
I've been using this setup since early 2016, and it seems all my warranties are expired. It wasn't just a gradual loss; the stress from the back panel likely caused the issue.
