You've got the launcher file, but you're having trouble opening it. Try using a tool like `launcher` or `jnlp` to launch it directly. If you're using a virtual machine, ensure the Minecraft Java Edition is properly installed and configured. Let me know if you need more specific steps!

I didn't expect you to skip the Debian package. Please download it if needed. Launch a terminal in the folder and execute: sudo dpkg -i Minecraft.deb. This will install the Minecraft launcher and make it accessible via the applications menu.

Mojang ensures the latest MC Java edition stays current for Linux users. Despite their size, they often overlook Linux platforms.

The most recent stable release for Linux is 1.16.5, with the latest snapshot being 21w20a. These might not always be the absolute newest, but they are quite up-to-date.

Java offers the advantage of consistent performance across different systems because its compiled code works anywhere with a Java Virtual Machine (JVM). The machine-generated bytecode is adaptable, the JVM converts it into system-specific instructions in real time. This makes adapting to new platforms relatively straightforward, provided the code doesn<|pad|> to use native operations. The graphics-related aspect is managed by the portable Lightweight Java Game Library, which should minimize any additional challenges from their side.

I really struggled with Java a month ago and felt overwhelmed by how complex it is. There’s a valid reason I say I can’t program to keep my life together. I dislike coding and won’t do it unless it’s necessary.

Sure, but the JVM isn't really the best fit since terms like bytecode or low/mid-level programming aren't typically associated with it.
