I recently purchased this ASUS Zephyrus G15 with the 3070 chipset, and overall it works well for both gaming and school tasks. However, the performance doesn’t quite match what I expect given the hardware specifications. When playing Minecraft at 1440p resolution, I’m getting around 30 frames per second at maximum settings. That’s not ideal, but it’s not exactly what high-end specs should deliver. Checking the Task Manager shows the CPU and GPU are both around 30-40% utilization, which is unusual for such demanding tasks. Why isn’t usage rising even when the game is struggling? If anyone has suggestions or has faced the same problem, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

It seems the system is attempting to utilize the IGPU instead of the dGPU. Consider trying an alternative method or adjusting the NVIDIA control panel settings to set the dGPU as the default. Regardless, you’ll need to download GeForce Experience and install the most recent drivers.

Minecraft Java tends to perform poorly overall. You may need to reduce the render distance to around 12 for smoother performance. It consistently uses all the CPU power on one core, so it doesn’t heavily tax your GPU.

It's also a good idea to try OptiFine if you haven't already. Standard Java usually struggles no matter how powerful your system is. OptiFine works best when you're playing Minecraft.
