Minecraft CPU
Minecraft CPU
Hello! I'm planning to assemble a mid-to-high range system in about a week. This machine is meant for medium-quality content creation and running Minecraft at 1440p/4K with RTX and shaders (more shaders if you like). The current PCPartPicker list includes a 13700k and a 4080, but I'm curious if there are cheaper CPUs under $550 that would perform better for Minecraft FPS.
It sparks debate because the idea seems promising but comes with significant costs. Reviewing your parts list might reveal valuable insights, yet the 13th gen i7-K processor and 4080 Super are considered premium options, not just mid-range.
You'll likely want to turn off the ECores and opt for a 360/420 AIO setup similar to the Liquid Freezer III. This would allow you to achieve over 5.5GHz all-core performance and possibly around 6GHz singlecore. For RAM, aim for at least 6400C32, as Hynix dies are capable of 10,000+. If you plan to upgrade later or move to a new platform, simply adjust the settings. The 13th/14th gen chips should handle 7600-8800 depending on the IMX, and using TeamGroup 5600C46 RAM can save some money upfront while still supporting future tuning.
I appreciate your selections and the clean white look you like. Instead of opting for the more expensive components, I can stick with the white theme while keeping the same specs—matching parts, using the same motherboard, RAM, and cooler. We could even add a 4090 cooler if needed. The Kraken is quite costly for its performance; a 360 Freezer 3 would be a better value according to @Somerandomtechyboi. A 4x16GB RAM setup isn’t ideal—DDR5 with four sticks will run slower and cost more, especially at higher speeds. A better RAM option is a 360mm AIO that’s faster and about one-third the price. If you prefer the Kraken, you can go for the 14700KF instead of the 13700K listed. The 4x16GB RAM is a poor choice; it would be slower and pricier. For storage, consider a 980 Pro M.2-2280 with PCIe 4.0 at a lower price, or go with the 990 Pro if you need more space. Video card and case choices can stay similar unless you want a specific upgrade. Power supply and monitor can be adjusted to fit your budget.
SLi or NVLink has been around for a while, offering little benefit when you run multiple GPUs. The 4090 isn't really worth the premium compared to its performance, and the 4080S is considered top-tier but costs over $1500. The 2060S/3060/6600XT are mid-range options, while the 7700XT or 3070/3080 fall into the high-end category. Starting around $4070–$7800 for GPUs suggests the market might be shifting higher or lower depending on the tier.
Checking GLgCcH liquid freezer iii shows it exceeds the overpriced Kraken version. The T700 is unnecessary—opt for another vortex redline 4Tb instead. Spend the rest on a 1000W PSU for the CPU, since a white build doesn’t fit a black one. A budget-friendly ASUS 4090 works well with a Z790 AORUS Master board. You could even add direct die cooling with a custom loop for extra heat capacity.
