Mild buyer regret in GPD Win 3? It's possible, but not certain.
Hey! I just got a used GPD Win 3 (Intel Core I7-1165G7) and overall I’m quite satisfied. Getting it set up for most games took some time due to odd settings, but once it was working, everything ran smoothly. A few titles didn’t launch properly at first, which might be because developers aren’t great with those systems, or maybe the Intel iGPU isn’t fully supported for gaming. I spent about 320 euros on the machine, charger, and docking station. The ergonomic grip cost around 30 dollars—it’s nice and comfortable, though a bit heavy. I’m hoping it helps balance the weight better. Total comes to roughly 350 euros.
About two months later, I noticed used ROG Allies Z1 models priced around 380 euros. I think I could negotiate down to about 350 without shipping costs, or maybe even 370 with them. That would be a bit cheaper. (Updated: I found some listings for as low as 350, so maybe I can get it for that.) The Ally Z1 is way more powerful for gaming, though. It feels like I gave up some performance. Still, the Win 3 is heavier and bulkier than the Ally, which isn’t ideal for my small backpack, especially in summer. I didn’t really enjoy the ergonomics when trying it on, and it’s not as comfortable as the Win 3. Also, it doesn’t have a built-in keyboard—though the one on the Win 3 seems questionable from my side. I’m not sure what I’m really asking for here.
Are the performance differences as significant as I thought? Do you think I overpaid a lot? Are there any situations where the Win 3 really shines compared to the Ally? Thanks!
