It’s just one Word document that can’t open. The error says Microsoft Word couldn’t read the file name. Do you want to recover its contents? If you trust the source, click Yes. I agreed.
New issue: Word failed to open the file. Consider these tips:
- Verify file permissions for the document or drive.
- Ensure there’s enough free memory and disk space.
- Try using a Text Recovery converter (e.g., C:\...\name of file...).
It only occurs with one Word file on the desktop; other files work fine. I ran SFC to check for corruption. I changed the extension to .rtf, but it still opened with limited code and errors. No permission problems detected.
How can I avoid this next time?

I sometimes encounter a comparable problem while downloading a file, especially from Dropbox. In this scenario, the file appears as a white rectangle rather than the expected "W". The fix appears to involve repeating the paste option. If this isn't resolved during processing, the file may become unusable later. I'm unsure if this helps with the current issue.

I made it on my desktop. I possess a prior version of the file with comparable but outdated information. It appears that each time I update the file and save it with a new name, it deteriorates afterward.
