Hi, Microsoft removed the 2004 feature update. I attempted to install it on one of my machines, but it's now blocked. I tried the Insider version, which caused issues—Cortana would appear and disrupt maximized windows. Disabling it in Start-Up didn't help, and stopping the service failed. I had to revert to version 1909. The update that was removed was stable enough for use, though the Insider version remains unusable due to the Cortana sign-in window. I strongly advise against using the Insider Update as of 7-15-2020 because of the Cortana issue. It interrupts full-screen gameplay, which is undesirable. The 2004 update had disk optimizer problems but functions otherwise. The OS even blocks updates from a flash drive. Microsoft seems to be addressing these concerns.

Several users have been relying on 2004 for over a month, but the downloads are set for 2004, leaving the reason unclear. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software.../windows10 Specific systems may be prevented from automatic access if they have recognized incompatible hardware or software. This happened to one of my machines, which arrived two weeks after the rest and displayed the same warning message.

I’ve been using it for a while now. I’m sharing this since I have two PCs doing the same tasks. One has an I7-3770 and 1050ti, with 16 GB RAM at 1600MHz. They’re older, but the other machine from that model was updated to 2004. I connected the media creation tool and let it update itself. I’m blocked on my AMD FX-8150 with a GTX750ti and my HP Z220 with an I7-3770 and a GTX1050ti. There seems to be no explanation for this issue. As I mentioned, my sister’s Z220 worked fine after the update. The only possibility I have is drive compression due to limited SSD space, though it should still function. I don’t know what happened over the past two days with the 2004 version. The AMD machine reported compression during the update assistant, which suggests an in-place installation—this doesn’t really make much sense.

The updater handles routine daily updates as usual, but it doesn't permit the Feature Update.

Consider if important cumulative updates are absent. This could impact the outcome.

I believe you should revisit what you shared and focus on this point: That detail is quite significant. I have two of my devices with the same note pending an update. Regarding the rest, it seems you’re among a very small group affected by this problem. I recommend you report the issue to MS to explore a fix or proceed with a rollback (as you did) and then wait for the update to be reinstalled.

I'll stick with the version from 1909. It seems there might be an issue loading the Media Creation Tool media onto a flash drive for installation. I've checked all options on both computers.

I haven’t even updated my system to the 2004 release because of the ongoing problems with this OS version. Plus, I think Microsoft is still waiting to install the update automatically on some computer brands.

If it doesn't install, I'll wait.
