Steam remains operational despite challenges. Its longevity comes from having many titles available over time. While uplay and origin exist, most games depend on Steam for functionality. Major retailers like Kingpin or G2A offer Steam keys, but if Microsoft aims to shut it down, they’d need to ensure players can access the games they purchased. That would mean taking on the responsibility of acquiring Steam to move all titles to their own platform. Simply blocking new releases isn’t feasible.

Microsoft struggles to replace Steam with updates, but Steam continues receiving improvements. If Steam disappears, many players might switch to Linux or revert to their older Windows 7 installation. Since most users stick with Windows 10, Microsoft faces little chance of losing those loyal customers.

If this occurs, I’d revert to Linux or consider an alternative STEAM OS. Hate MS.

I've been relying on this system for a couple of years now, so it shouldn't impact me. The only Windows I'm still using are versions 3.11, 95, 98SE and XP across three older machines (still great games...). Perhaps Linux will attract more users eventually.
