Hi everyone, I recently purchased a used HP Z240 workstation from the CSU surplus store about a year ago. Despite my efforts, I haven't managed to connect any microphones. I've tested various options: headphones with a built-in mic plugged into the headset aux port, USB microphones, and microphones connected through the dedicated microphone aux port on the back. I also tried using the headset aux port on the front, but it didn't work. Interestingly, other devices with similar setups have functioning microphones. I've also checked the microphones on different gadgets, and they all worked fine. Additionally, sound from the front aux port didn't come out either. I've tried another workstation and it had the same issue. For reference, there are two aux ports on the front—one with just a headphone icon and another with both headphone and microphone icons. The one on the back only has a microphone icon. Still, nothing has resolved the problem. I'm seeking advice or suggestions to fix this. Any guidance would be really appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Sorry, but the first scenario is more likely. Check your sound settings to confirm the right device is selected for recording, ensure the volume is at 100% and it isn't muted. You mentioned three microphone inputs aren't working and one output isn't functioning. Are there any audio devices listed in your device manager, and are they displaying correctly? For confirmation, how do you verify the USB mic's status? If you were expecting audio from speakers but lack drivers, the mic might still be active. The safest approach is to monitor visual cues, though you might need to shout a bit to detect anything depending on the mic.
