Microphone not working
Microphone not working
Hello everyone,
I'm using Windows 11 and the microphone functioned properly after the initial update. After switching my computer into sleep mode and returning the next day, I noticed the microphone was completely non-functional. The device is still listed as connected in Windows, but no audio input appears in any application. I've tried several solutions without success:
- Updated the microphone drivers via Device Manager.
- Reinstalled the microphone.
- Updated the headphone and sound drivers externally.
- Restarted the PC and checked the sound settings.
- Tested with a different microphone, but it also failed to detect.
- Disconnected and reconnected the headphones, restarted again.
Despite these efforts, I still can't identify the problem. Recently, when joining calls like Discord or Telegram, Windows shows it's using my microphone in the system tray. I attempted to use a line-in microphone, but it didn't work either. I suspect interference from my headphones might be the cause, even though they never affected it before. I've unplugged them and still haven't resolved the issue. It was functioning well less than 12 hours ago.
did you file a bug report with Microsoft through feedback because it's possible, given you're using the win 11 preview? the drivers just aren't available yet. that's part of the challenge with alpha software—you never know what will work. i might consider moving the thread back to the win 11 area since we're trying to keep all win 11 questions in one place.
It has no relation to Windows 11 as it functioned properly during installation. The update history showed nothing changed. I verified the line-in connection and found it was inserted into the correct port, so it worked correctly. However, the microphone on the headset remains undetected and still produces static. I continue using the line-in and am seeking guidance on resolving the microphone issue, as it only emits repetitive noise.
