my headset (jbl quantum 100) uses just one connector with four pins, but my PC has two front panel jacks, so I connect them through a splitter. it functions well until the microphone captures everything around me, including background noise and any audio from the stereo. additionally, the sound doesn’t work properly during recording or when playing music/video in Discord. with games, I’ve tried many fixes—like using back panel jacks, updating drivers, adjusting sound settings, and changing configurations—but nothing resolves the problem. this issue has been ongoing for a few months now, though it seems to be software-related. I’ve used my headset as both input and output for my MacBook, which worked perfectly before, but now it’s not functioning at all. the motherboard is a Gigabyte B660M gaming model with DDR4, and I’m on Windows 10 version 19044.1889. any help would be greatly appreciated.

It seems your splitter might not be working properly. The audio returning to your microphone could be missing a stereo channel. Consider swapping the microphone and headphone connections—perhaps it’s connected backward. If that doesn’t help, try using a different splitter.

changed the connections, nothing helped. will try the splitter with another set of headphones, and if that fails i’ll replace it.

I finally understood what was happening. It turns out I had forgotten to fully insert my headphone connector into the splitter, which needed more effort than I realized. But now it works. It’s reassuring to know the problem wasn’t with the splitter, the PC, or the headphones. Thanks, BobVonBob!
