Micro Stuttering in every game I play is really frustrating!
The setup includes several components such as an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, a MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX ATX AM4 board, Corsair Vengeance LPX memory, an EVGA GeForce RTX 2070, a Zalman Z11 Plus case, a Corsair RM 650 W power supply, and an Asus VG248QE monitor. The performance tends to drop noticeably across different games, often around 10%, especially in older titles or emulators. The user mentions frequent microflicks and instability in games like 3DS and Subnautica, which persist even after a fresh OS install. SSDs are likely several years old, and the power supply and CPU/GPU are also quite old. The system has never blue-screened during gameplay, suggesting hardware issues rather than software glitches.
Did you verify if there are any available updates for the device's drivers, including hardware, audio, GPU, and BIOS?
I finished a DDU on the GPU last week. Just manually updated each driver. Also learned how the BIOS update process works and applied the newest version. No changes were needed. Given your recognition here, I’ll heed any suggestions you have. Appreciate your reply.
Consider adjusting the bios under exit and resetting it to optimal or original configurations. Save your changes and restart to see if there are any differences. Regarding your system, what windows power settings are active? Also, check if your monitor supports freesync. Would you mind sharing your Nvidia control panel 3D settings? Ensure in the 3D settings that the preferred graphics processor is selected, not auto or CPU. Keep in mind that using emulators can be slow due to translation from one system to a PC environment. You might also try installing MSI Afterburner to improve GPU performance.
It turned out one of my SSDs that stored a lot of my data was having problems and caused big delays every time something loaded. After switching everything to an HDD, the issues disappeared. The Sifu still lags when loading, but the other SSD, which is around 8 years old, seems too slow for fast loading. I ordered a high-speed M.2 SSD from Amazon so I can run everything smoothly. I’ll also move the OS there. Thanks for your help!
