Mi Router 4a gigabit version slows down when moved to a different area
I recently purchased a Mi Router 4a gigabit model and after configuring it, I tested the Wi-Fi nearby. It performed well with speeds of 30Mbps down and 9Mbps up at 2ms latency. However, once I moved into my bedroom, the connection dropped significantly—down to 2Mbps down and only 0.2Mbps up, with a delay of 11ms. I'm using a 2.4GHz frequency. I'm wondering if others who use this router experience similar issues. Are there any solutions or workarounds I can try? At the moment, I place the router close to the ISP modem/router but keep the Wi-Fi turned off. I bought this device hoping for improved coverage or a better overall experience than the one provided by the ISP.
It's not straightforward, because the amount of signal blocked or reflected varies based on your home's structure and what you place inside. Generally, 5GHz performs better through a single wall than 2.4GHz since it starts stronger. Only when you move further away does 5GHz become too weak, allowing 2.4GHz to still provide a solid connection. How strong is your current broadband connection?
