I'm experiencing slow network performance and latency on my current wireless connection. I'm considering upgrading my setup and need guidance on the best approach. The devices needing consistent speed and minimal delay are my gaming PC, Xbox, and Apple TV for streaming 4K content. Other devices are less urgent. Should I invest in an extender to connect a wired link to my devices? Would running Ethernet cables via a network switch be a better option? Or is there a more effective solution? It's worth noting I'm renting the property, which is over 50 years old and may change soon. The router is currently on the third floor, while my gaming PC and Apple TV are on the second floor.

100% conductive cables. If you’re good at running wires, keep it up, and avoid Wi-Fi interference.

Sure, I can help with that. What kind of switch are you considering?

As long as it's a well-known brand and gigabit, that should work. You're not using many devices at once.

Ethernet remains the top choice, but since running cables isn’t feasible, a robust mesh Wi-Fi setup is a solid alternative. A quick note: are you connecting with the modem/router from your ISP? Which provider are you using? What rates do you charge?

I own a Comcast account with a 600Mbps internet connection. I'm utilizing the latest Xfinity Router Modem provided by Comcast.

I’m expecting you to cover that cost... really, please buy what you need yourself. Instead of spending $10 each month on the service they provide, invest in your own setup for $100 and avoid recurring charges. Consider getting your own router too—you’ll enjoy a stronger connection and full control over its settings.

I'm thinking about purchasing another device. I previously bought a router and modem that experienced speed problems and connection issues. Xfinity stated they can only verify or confirm speeds when using their own modem/router.
