Hey! Your current configuration looks solid overall. The router handles the main traffic well, but the nodes are experiencing distance-related slowdowns. You're right about the upstairs node being the most critical—it's where you work and has a direct connection.

To boost that node’s speed, powerline adapters could be a good option. They can help bridge the gap between your router and the upstairs space, potentially delivering more than 300 Mbps. Just make sure to check compatibility with your ISP and router model before setting them up.

It's not what you hoped for, but you chose a WiFi 5 setup. 300-500Mbps works only under ideal conditions with a clear line of sight. Once you hit obstacles like walls and floors, performance drops sharply. Mesh networks can assist, but each node must maintain a strong signal from the start. If this was a purchase you didn’t want, I’d exchange it for a WiFi 6 system. You’ll enjoy much better coverage with that.

I've been using it for some time now and was hoping to find a way to boost its performance.
