Hey there, so life’s been really hectic lately. I’m relocating a few miles away and it’s been a lot of prep and planning with work, leaving me with limited time to finish this build. Just completed the setup and I need it done quickly. Here’s what I’ve got: an EVGA B5 650W power supply originally from GIGABYE AEROUD H470 now an ASUS ROG Z490E i3-10100 MSI GEFORCE GTX 1050Ti 4GB, a basic $45 cooler master cooler, 16GB (2x8) Trident Z RGB DDR4 at 3600mhz, and storage. At first I tried assembling it but got a CPU error on the LEDs. I went to Best Buy, bought a different 10th gen processor, and found out the board had bent pins. I returned the new one, unplugged everything, and everything worked again—code 55 with the DRAM LED lighting up. After troubleshooting, I realized: both sticks work in slot A2, ram without working (no LEDs) can’t reach BIOS, and neither stick works alone in slot B2. I’m pretty sure the board is still faulty.
It seems the RAM sticks are working together in one slot while not functioning in another. This could indicate a motherboard issue. If possible, return the motherboard and obtain a replacement.
The CMOS is cleared, and I’m checking if I’m interpreting it right. B2 doesn’t postr but A2 does. Try slot 1, 3, and see what happens. Re-seat the CPU and verify everything. Also, look for any broken memory channels on the CPU.
I’ll test both approaches when I finish unpacking today. I’ve already repositioned the CPU, and you’re right about the manual. It seems confusing whether a second stick of RAM would work alone—could you confirm the exact specs? Examine the CPU side and look for any signs of damage. Reset the CMOS and see if it works. This is just a temporary troubleshooting approach. Test all the DIMM slots, starting with slots 1 and 3, and observe the results.
