Memory errors in OCCT
Hello
I'm facing an issue with achieving stability using 4x48 GB RAM, DDR5 6000MT/s. In OCCT I encounter errors within 2 minutes (RAM Test selected, not CPU+ram). My system specs are:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D (OC to 5.2GHz)
CPU Cooler: Arctic Liquid Freezer Pro - 360
RAM: 4x48 GB Kingston Fury (all 4 sticks), 6000 MHz, CL30
MB: ASUS Crosshair X870E Hero
PSU: Corsair RM1000x
SSD: 1x Samsung 2TB 9100 Pro, 1x Samsung 4TB 990 Pro
GPU: Gainward GeForce 5070 Ti Phoenix
The main concern is memory stability—when using two sticks there was no problem. It seems the issue might be with the MMCM or something similar. I've tried various configurations and voltages without success. Maybe I'm making a mistake, but I'm not sure if it's fixable. The BIOS for my motherboard is up to date (version 1504).
Could someone advise me on possible solutions?
The differences in those speeds are minimal in real-world use. Lower frequency should result in reduced latency, helping balance performance.
If you're experiencing memory issues with 4 sticks of RAM, it might be related to the second RAM kit you installed or the integrated memory controller. You seem to be using the most recent BIOS version for your motherboard. You could try adjusting the timings on the RAM kit and see if stability improves, or consider downclocking the RAM sticks to restore it. How are you planning to overclock the RAM? Are you just enabling AMD's E.X.P.O?
I am not relying on AMD Expo or Intel XMP settings; everything was configured manually. Now I'm just testing with CL32, which appears stable for now but requires more checks. If issues arise, I can try lower frequencies that are already effective. The voltage on the IMC doesn't seem to impact performance (at least in the 4x48 GB RAM setup), though it might not be optimal. Also, 6000MHz isn't overclocked for the RAM itself—it's their standard speed.
Why not opt for XMP or EXPO? You can always adjust settings manually, begin with lower values and verify stability.
PS. 6000MHz is acceptable, RAM and IMC are also supported. The starting frequency (per JEDEC standard) for DDR is 4800MHz and IMC varies based on configuration.
Thank you for your response. I prefer 5600MHz. Best regards, Arm0r!
