Purchased a WD blue HDD from Amazon marked as "new." I'm unsure if the issue is with the product or if it's defective.

Hello! I'm new to this but I'll do my best to assist you. I'm using a recent Windows version now. 1) Try the built-in troubleshooter to check for issues. 2) Switch the assigned drive letter to something else. 3) Verify your drive is connected correctly. 4) Update or reinstall the HDD driver via Device Manager. 5) Connect your HDD to a different SATA port on the motherboard—switching the cable might help too. 6) In the lower left, look for "CMD," right-click it, and choose "Run as administrator." Then enter: chkdsk [your drive letter]:/f/r/x
