Maximus VIII Hero QFAN control paired with H100i GTX
Maximus VIII Hero QFAN control paired with H100i GTX
I built a new machine:
i5 6600K
Maxiums VIII Hero
H100i GTX Water Cooler
I have an issue with the CPU_FAN speed unable to be controlled by the Corsair Link software. Corsair tech support tells me to make sure the CPU_FAN header is set to PWM/Manual mode and slide the 3 dots up to 100% maximum. When I do that, the CPU_FAN is grayed out in AI Suite fan expert but I can still see the RPM's. Corsair Link, however, is unable to control fan speed no matter what setting I set it to. It's just stuck at a fixed RPM rate (1380RPM, which doesn't match the RPM's that AI Suite is showing me).
The stock fans that came with the H100i GTX were showing speeds of 1300 +/- in AI Suite and I felt like the noise was a little too loud so I bought 2 fans to replace the stock fans:
Corsair Air Series SP120 (CO-9050012-WW) 120mm PWM Quiet Edition High Static Pressure Fan (Twin Pack)
Well, it is much quieter, but these fans won't spin up passed 800RPM, even though they are set to max speed in the BIOS just like the previous fans. Am I doing something wrong? I also notice that the CPU_FAN connector coming from the h100i gtx water block is only 3-pin. Does that matter? I've had nothing but problems with Corsair Link, but now because of these new fans running at slower RPM I'm not sure where the problem actually lies.
This inquiry is confusing but unclear. It seems to ask about the connection of a fan connector, whether it's on the motherboard or directly connected to the power supply unit.
I have the EXACT same issue actually (with some other added).....Corsair basically told me "It's not a problem, don't worry" and then told me "We're looking into this problem now" THEN....ended with "You can just uninstall Corsair Link because you don't really need it anyways"
Lol...excuse me? I'm sorry I didn't realize I bought your products for them to not work and have a half-ass support "help" me with the troubleshooting.
However I OC'ed to 4.4Ghz and did a stress test and noticed when my cores were reaching 70C that the pump sped up to around 900 RPM - Fans on my radiator though I don't know because they don't show up or register either. First liquid cooling system that I purchased, more issues than I could've ever imagined.
If you still have the ability I would exchange it for the NZXT Kraken x61 as Corsairs products seem to work for some people, don't work for others AND.....even have this thing where the system decides on its own when it is going to work.
