I checked online and found no clear solution. My Maximus VII Ranger (Z97) has an M.2 port, but I’m unsure if it supports NVMe or PCIe drives beyond SATA M.2. TIA.

Only compatible with M.2 NVMe/PCIe cards; Z97 can't boot NVMe independently—verify your BIOS supports it. Typically limited to 10Gb max (~1250MB/s), but newer devices often exceed this speed.
