Hello everyone. I'm dealing with a Maximus IV motherboard that's causing me a lot of trouble. I'm seeing random 55 error codes now and then. It's really confusing because the issue pops up sometimes and other times it doesn't. I've tried adjusting the CPU bracket screws and even rebooted multiple times to see if that fixes things, but the error still appears. Since it keeps happening intermittently, I'm getting frustrated. I'm running a system with G.skill RAM, four drives at 32GB, using an i7-7700K at 5GHz. I've repaired and fixed computers before, so I'm starting to think maybe this is just a persistent problem that will keep coming back until it's resolved. Any advice would be super helpful. Once the computer starts up, it works perfectly until the 55 error shows up again during a reboot. It sounds like the CPU pins might be bent, but I'm not sure if that's the case.
Maximus IV doesn't accept a 7700K CPU. Are you referring to Maximus IX? Please share your post codes below. I won't provide more assistance until we have this information. In the meantime, could you list the memory part number? Someone might be able to help further.

The 55 post code suggests the memory isn't installed, so the board won't attempt to access it. You may try testing at a reduced frequency or even use the default settings. Since the device has issues, consider checking if you've updated the BIOS. Avoid flashing unless the system is completely in its default state.
It satisfies the QVL for that board. It's presently set to 4000mhz; however, this shouldn't be the concern since the problem has persisted since installation. I'm unsure what to do except keep talking to gskill and trying troubleshooting for hours before needing an RMA, which I definitely don't want to go through. If it works at all, it's typically fine—currently it's fully stable, no crashes, hasn't been restarted in over a week. The issue arises only when I restart it, then it throws that error code randomly. It doesn't make sense.
