Hello, I'm looking to purchase the Fractal Design Define 7 case with two USB 3 ports on the front panel. I also want to buy the Asus Prime Z790-A WiFi motherboard, which advertises that its USB 3.2 Gen 1 header can support additional USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports. The specs mention a maximum speed of up to 5 Gb/s per port. If both front panels are connected to one USB header on the motherboard, how would the flash drive speeds be affected? Will each drive reach the full 5 Gb/s, or will the speeds be divided between them? Any guidance would be appreciated.

It seems the highest data rate will likely be shared between the two connections if they're connected to the same port, though I'm not entirely confident. I think a contemporary USB adapter should support full speed for both ports simultaneously, particularly if it's built around the concept of using a single header for both.
