Hi everyone, I'm experiencing some temperature concerns. My Zenith II Extreme is running with a GTX 1080 TR 3960x, 64GB of 3200MHz RAM, an old Creative Sound Card, four SSDs (three HDDs and one NVMe), and a 1600W Evga Titanium PSU. The system stays below 50°C, except the chipset which heats up to 80°C after about ten minutes. The fan is running at full speed. This seems unusual—am I facing an issue? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It might be that the sensor is damaged, but don’t panic unless it reaches 95°C. -Ensure your GPU isn’t obstructing the fan. -Test the temperature with other applications. -Can you physically feel the chipset? If it’s excessively hot, it may indicate an issue. -Disconnect the board and seek assistance from ASUS.

The chipset fan may start spinning upon overheating. You can adjust it using the BIOS settings.

I programmed it at 100% once it reached 75°C. It has been functioning continuously since then, as the computer warmed up to 50°C rapidly when it started.

It seems the heat transfer surface might need a thermal pad. It could have shifted or been omitted.

I'll review that. Thank you for the suggestion, and I've identified some x570 Asus boards with similar temperatures. I'll reach out to Asus about it.

VRM temperatures stay below 55°C. Chipset temperatures exceed 70°C.

I contacted Asus about the issue and they confirmed 80°C is fine for the chipset, but 82°C isn’t ideal. I don’t have a chassis fan yet. I’m considering RGB fans at 1500rpm, but will 2400rpm be too noisy or effective for fresh air?

It's not too bad for the chipset, just unusually high. The same IO die is used in Zen 2 CPUs and they don't throttle temperature until 95°C. You can always reduce their speed when needed.

The tricky part is figuring this out. Would you choose the 120mm performance fans with high CFM or the ones with nearly half CFM for RGB fans that produce similar noise levels?
