Considering an AM5 board with a 3-slot GPU, you're thinking about adding a second PCIe card. It seems the middle x1 and x4 slots will be taken by the GPU cooler, so you'd likely use the larger x16 slot instead. This would change your primary x16 port to x8. On that platform, a 3-slot GPU will occupy all remaining positions. Look for a board featuring a single slot positioned directly above the GPU slot, if available.

It seems this review mentions a PCIe X1 extender cable suitable for use in a slot obstructed by a large GPU.
