I bought a USB Blu-Ray player, Matshita BD-MLT UJ240ES. After connecting it to my Windows 10 Home laptop, it functioned properly for playing DVDs and Blu-Rays. Using PowerDVD 20, I noticed some issues later on. If I inserted the disc and waited hours or days, it would stop where it left off and sometimes required a restart. I experimented with various USB connections, power settings, and even a USB AC adapter, but the results were inconsistent—sometimes it worked, sometimes not. Eventually, it stopped playing Blu-Rays altogether, though DVDs still worked. To rule out laptop or port problems, I used a different USB Blu-Ray player, which functioned correctly. The driver information is: Microsoft, 6/21/2006, version 10.0.19041.1266. Other suggestions included uninstalling the device and restarting the laptop, but that didn’t help. I haven’t found any alternative drivers for this model.

I would guess the Drive has stopped working. If Windows Explorer fails to find the drive or briefly sees it and then vanishes, it usually means a problem with the CD/DVD hardware.

After testing another USB Blu-Ray Player, the issue appears to be related to PowerDVD 20. The current version 3223 is only offered to customers who bought it, not included with purchases. If the software was bundled with your laptop, the manufacturer might have updates for you.

It doesn't seem linked to any software. The player functioned with the PowerDVD20 version I had for some time. I also tried it with Leawo earlier without problems, but now it can't read the disc. Furthermore, Windows Explorer either (a) fails to recognize the drive or (b) briefly recognizes it but doesn't mark it as a Blu-Ray, causing the drive to vanish.
