Many short pauses are happening on my computer.
Many short pauses are happening on my computer.
I recently purchased a new CPU, which finally eliminated the bottleneck in my GPU. My current configuration includes an R7 5800X, RTX 3070, 16GB HDD, and 3600 RAM. Despite this setup, I still experience performance drops in games, especially during intense moments like in Lost Ark. I've tried adjusting settings such as turning off VSync and removing frame caps, but the issue persists. It seems the HDD might be contributing to the slowdown. Alternatively, it could be a software problem or even a virus. If you have any suggestions or know a solution, please share—formatting my PC isn't an option right now.
Are these pauses limited to new map sections? If so, it could mean your storage isn’t quick enough to handle the load.
RAM speed remains steady, BIOS version matches the motherboard, PSU brand is XYZ Pro, CPU and GPU temps hover around 85-90°C during gameplay.
RAM Speed: My motherboard is the newest model, and I didn’t plan to update after installation because I thought a crash would prevent it. PSU settings: FSP Hyper 600 Watt. CPU and GPU temps: around 50-60 initially, rising to about 90 under load. After underclocking, temps are now 50-60 during load. The lowest-end cooler I have is on the budget side, so I kept it at 3.8 or 3.6. It still doesn’t reach full performance, and neither does the GPU.
Occasionally new sections appear while I'm already inside loaded zones, causing stuttering. My initial thought was the HDD couldn't keep up because not all data reaches 50%, whereas the RAM hits around 80% max and the HDD stays at 100%. I wanted to check if the PSU or additional RAM might be the issue before moving forward.
Are you using an HDD? It might be contributing to the lag—switch to an NVMe SSD.
XMP/DOCP is activated. All FSP Hypers are unsuitable for your setup. No SSD available.
