Curious about the proportions here. You're considering a 980m ASUS ROG G751JY for its excellent quiet cooling, but how do you feel about a gaming laptop versus a PC?

PC offers great versatility, so choose an M-ATX board and a matching case if you prefer a compact design.

I appreciate desktops for their strength and upgrade options, yet gaming laptops have improved significantly recently. I enjoy gaming laptops since they let me play anywhere my family gathers. I’d choose a laptop over a PC mainly for its portability, and I can easily assemble a PC myself.

Desktop has been popular for a long time, as mechanical keyboards on laptops don’t really exist; and 15" or 17" screens are extremely compact.

I favor desktops because they offer greater flexibility for upgrades and provide a larger display for gaming.

I prefer laptops over desktops, yet the cost-effectiveness of assembling your own setup is unmatched. If they could design a custom DIY laptop frame allowing large parts, we’d be in a strong position.

If gaming laptops offered similar power and upgrade options as PCs, I’d stick to a laptop for gaming but still have a solid desktop at home. This balance makes me appreciate the Alienware graphics amplifier and future upgrades, allowing a laptop with a connected monitor to leverage your desktop GPU for better performance.
