Prey is a new adaptation of the original Prey universe, not a full reboot.
It seems to be a fresh game inspired by the Prey universe, yet featuring an entirely different narrative. The teaser video was released during the current Bethesda showcase (approximately 15 minutes ago).
These types of games that rely heavily on micro-transactions and character-based actions are the latest trend. They seem appealing to publishers since they promise quick profits, which is why many are adopting them now. Epic's Paragon Gearbox and Blizzard's Overwatch id Quake Champions are notable examples.
One intriguing detail emerges that a fresh Wolfenstein could be coming. Even more surprising is the absence of a release date. A clever hint there, Bethesda.
Confirming the identity is clear—Wolfenstein it is, not a new Shadow of The Colossus. /s
