You can directly set a custom resolution in your graphics card settings. On the desktop, revert it back to standard, and within the game, you’ll find an option to render at a higher resolution. I use this approach to reduce 1440p to my monitor without relying on third-party tools, just using built-in features.
They didn't specify that you can run it natively in the NVidia Control Panel if you're not okay with other GeDoSaTo components like scaryjam823 mentioned. I don’t have that advantage since I’m using AMD. Still, it offers many helpful options, such as capturing screenshots at the actual rendered resolution instead of a downsampled one. Sure, I've managed that up to 4K, but once my screen starts to fade, I won't be able to go further.
