I7 9700k - Asus maximus XI Hero I discovered a reliable overclock at 4.9GHZ with 1.260v LLC6, which is within safe limits for LLC6. Manual voltage at 1.260v seems fine for continuous operation. If you enable adaptive voltage and adjust the turbo voltage to 1.260v, using HWmonitor to monitor stability is a good idea. For setting adaptive voltage effectively, look into methods that allow gradual adjustments while maintaining performance.

If you're concerned about hardware longevity, it's best to set the system to default with 9700k and enable only the XMP profile for RAM. The default configuration runs all cores at 4.6GHz with very low voltage (1.119V), offering minimal CPU overclock benefits. Activating XMP improves low FPS by about 0.1% and 1%, leading to noticeably smoother gameplay.

Even when configured to default, it continues to operate at up to 1.3v during auto mode; running at 4.9ghz provides better performance while using slightly less power.
