It seems DX12 will follow the same path Mantle was aiming for, making it unnecessary soon. Developers will need to optimize games for multiple-core CPUs, but this isn't the final outcome.

I believe the mantle wasn't meant to last. It was created to push Microsoft to enhance DirectX even more. And hey, I'm sorry like a Canadian!
