I run several Chrome browsers at the same time and have about twenty-five tabs open. I don't play games, edit videos, or install heavy software. It's just a normal daily task. My budget is CAD 1200 for things like AMD Ryzen™ 7 8700G chips from ASUS, some RAM sticks, an SSD, a power supply, and a computer case. Is this the right choice?

You should probably get 64GB of RAM since Chrome uses a lot of memory. When you buy that, look for DDR5-6000MHz kits that say AMD's E.X.P.O is advertised on them. If your motherboard doesn't have BIOS version 1807, you need to update it first before dropping in an APU. For the power supply unit, don't spend too much money on an expensive one, even if you aren't looking for a discrete GPU. You should follow the advice from this thread about how to get good build or upgrade tips: *How to Ask for New Build or Upgrade Advice*. First of all, treat people and respect their place - this is just a copy of an Animal's guide on How To Ask For New Build Advice found on Sticky. I made this because there are so many posts asking for advice here and in the CPU forums right now, and I feel like we can add some good suggestions from those other places. Moved this thread over to the Systems section.

I need to pick parts carefully because my CPU is the AMD Ryzen 7 8700G, which has a built-in graphics chip. This means I can play games right now without having to buy a separate graphics card. If I want one later, that's easy. My motherboard is an MSI PRO B650-S with WiFi and AM5 socket, so it supports future upgrades like extra RAM or faster storage.

I'm using two sticks of 32GB of RAM (two sticks of 16GB) from Corsair. These are DDR5 speed, low latency, and perfect for both working and gaming. My storage is a big 1TB hard drive from Samsung called the 990 PRO, which uses NVMe technology. It's very fast, so my computer starts up quickly and loads stuff into memory easily.

My power supply comes from MSI as a MAG A750GL. It has enough wattage (750W) to handle my current games and future ones that come out in 2026, specifically for big titles like Battlefield 6. I don't need heavy video editing software or anything complex right now; mostly just work tasks.

My budget is set at CAD 1500. My case is a Corsair Frame 4000D RS with an RGB light strip that looks cool, and it has good airflow to keep things cold while I use multiple tabs in my Chrome browser.

Just keep talking about one topic if you don't want a mess in your head.

Oops, I'm finally back after being away for a while. I'll make sure to stay safe. What do you say about these new features?

It should work fine for what you are trying to get done. Be sure your memory matches EXPO, which is AMD's way of saying XMP. There are lots of different versions of this model name. Using EXPO can help tune how much your memory and CPU talk to each other. I have both an 8700G and an 8500G at my house right now. The first one runs really well for running LLMs or AI stuff in a Linux system, while the second handles regular PC tasks great too. Both of them work fine for what they need to do.

Ready to buy. I'm getting a Ryzen 7 9700X processor for the motherboard MSI PRO B650-S with WiFi. It has 8 cores and comes from AMD. My RAM is CORSAIR Vengeance DDR5 32GB at high speed, paired with an SSD that's Samsung 990 PRO 1TB and very fast. I need a power supply MSI MAG A750GL PCIE5 – 750W, which is fully modular and gold rated. For cooling, I'll use the Thermalright Assassin Spirit 120 V2 PLUS with two fans for my AMD AM5 setup. My case will be the Corsair Frame 4000D RS ARGB.

The jump from the 8700G to the 9700X makes a big difference for your graphics.
